Jjaja Angella (90+) and Jjaja Rosaliru (90+), two friends since childhood, were among the very first seniors to join ROTOM's family in their community in 2013. Back then, everything felt new and uncertain. But soon, as they recall, ROTOM became a source of hope and support for them.
Together, they attended the seniors’ fellowship gatherings in Nabalanga village. ROTOM brought more than just meals; it brought joy and a sense of belonging. Jjaja Angella even credits ROTOM with helping them live long, comfortable lives.
Recently, Jjaja Angella's eyesight weakened which made even her daily mundane tasks difficult. Thankfully, ROTOM stepped in, as it has done for the last 12 or so years she has been part of the program. They provided treatment that eased her pain and allowed her to continue weaving beautiful mats. Her laughter echoes as Jjaja Angella playfully calls Rosaliru the "biggest beneficiary" of her mats.
Life threw another challenge at Rosaliru when she fractured her hip. But with ROTOM's support, she received physiotherapy, regaining her mobility and independence. Their bond, nurtured over decades, has grown even stronger thanks to ROTOM. They check on each other often, share food, and are each other’s support.
Years have passed, and Jjaja Angella jokes that they're practically "babies" now, but ROTOM's care hasn't wavered. With love shining in their eyes, they express their deep gratitude for ROTOM's love and care. "We feel valued," they simply say.
Their story is a heartwarming reminder that ROTOM goes beyond caring for seniors. It fosters a vibrant community where friendships flourish, connections deepen, and spirits find solace. ROTOM ensures that these golden years are not just lived, but thrived in, surrounded by the love and support that empowers them to live life to the fullest.
