Jjaja Jaria Nakakande, an 86-year-old Muslim woman, embodies the spirit of perseverance. For eight years, she has faithfully attended ROTOM's Seniors’ fellowships, finding joy and connection with other seniors.
Last year, Jjaja Jaria faced a health scare – a stroke. Thankfully, she made a remarkable recovery. Her doctor at the ROTOM Health Center stressed the importance of regular exercise. Jaria, determined to stay healthy and return to her beloved fellowship, adopted a unique solution.
Despite the significant distance, Jaria chooses to walk to the fellowship center. This dedicated walk has become a cornerstone of her exercise routine. Rain or shine, Jaria prioritizes the fellowship, viewing it as an investment in her physical and emotional well-being.
Beyond the exercise benefit, Jjaja Jaria cherishes the fellowship itself. She has built strong friendships with other seniors, sharing laughter, intimate moments, and a sense of community that transcends religious differences.
Jjaja Jaria's story is an inspiration. It demonstrates the power of our bi-monthly fellowships to uplift the spirit, the importance of staying active, and the beauty of finding comfort in unexpected places. Through ROTOM's support, Jaria walks a path of health, happiness, and connection, proving that with support of friends like you, age and background are no barriers to a fulfilling life.
