Jajja Beatrice’s life took an unexpected turn many years ago when she separated from her husband. Although their villages remained close, their paths took different turns, each weaving their own story. News of each other, their progress, health and residential status, like faint whispers on the wind, kept them tethered to a shared past.
Both Beatrice and her husband, Ssalongo Wandera found themselves embraced by ROTOM's caring hand. Over the years, the Senior Friendship Program nourished them with improved health, a steady food supply, and the dignity they deserved in their old age. ROTOM's seniors’ fellowships, where Beatrice and other seniors shared in the word of God touched her deeply and transformed her into a new person. Forgiveness, a common topic during fellowship, resonated with Beatrice and the emphasis the Bible puts on loving one’s neighbor as oneself struck a chord.
Touched by these lessons, Beatrice couldn't ignore the news of her estranged husband's struggles as he grew older and weaker. "This is what they've been teaching us," she shared, her voice filled with conviction. "To forgive and love."
Jajja Beatrice’s faith translated into action. She returned home to her husband, providing reassurance for him to find solace in his twilight years. The years of care they’ve received from ROTOM have empowered them to extend that same support to each other.
Their story doesn't end there. Beatrice’s husband now joins her at her ROTOM fellowship, finding comfort in the shared word of God and the love that blooms among other seniors. A powerful example of the transformative power of forgiveness and the enduring flame of love, rekindled by compassion and faith.
