I have been involved with this amazing ministry since 2014. It is such a joy and challenge to be able to help desperately poor people in rural Uganda enabling them to live more dignified and fulfilled lives. From the UK we support 38 elderly people in a very remote village called Seeta Namulangi. Overall ROTOM Uganda supports over 1000 elderly people.
Each year they organise a Christmas party  and  buy each of the seniors a Christmas present. This year it will be a radio. A radio can be a real lifeline for otherwise lonely and isolated people.
Eloise’s Story
“At 96 years Eloise Zawedde can no longer move around on her own. She lives with her daughter Olivia, grandsons and great grandchildren. Her daughter and grandsons are peasant farmers and spend most of their time in the garden. Her grandchildren are in school most of the time.
Eloise is often left alone in her homestead to while away the hours with just her thoughts and occasional twittering of the birds for company. Every time her family goes out, loneliness moves in to stay till the evening when everyone gets home.
Eloise finds it hard to sleep at night. While the world sleeps, she is left alone with her often unhappy memories.
With a new portable FM radio receiver Eloise would be able to listen to the news, informative radio programs and music. On Sundays she too can tune into the many church services broadcasted on the radio.”

In some respects Eloise is lucky as she has family around; many of our seniors have no one.
The gift of an FM radio receiver would be the lifeline Eloise needs to keep loneliness at bay and stay connected to the rest of the world.”
