A Blanket, for Christmas!

“Thanks to Friends like YOU, ROTOM supported seniors can receive gifts that make them feel recognized, valued and loved. This Christmas, gift a ROTOM Senior with a “Warm Blanket”.

Donate £24 or more if you feel you can buy a senior a blanket.

Kevina N. is 83 years old and lives in a small village of Kabulo with her sister Flavia and her granddaughter. She is one of the seniors who joined ROTOM in 2022. Kevina has no covers to use at night to keep warm. She has a thin bed sheet that she uses to cover her old mattress. For covers, she uses one of her traditional dresses or a shawl. Kevina says, “the older I grow, the harder it is to keep warm”. This situation is no different from so many other seniors whose covers are won-out or have nothing at all.

Merabu N. is raising 8 little grandchildren. And between the 9 of them, they only have 3 thin blankets to keep warm at night. Merabu has to share her bed with one of her granddaughters because this is the only way they can all have covers to ward off the cold of night.

For Elifazi M., buying a warm blanket is the least of his worries. His house is unfinished and his twin sons’ school fees take all the little money he makes from working in his garden. His family sleeps on two very old mattresses laid side by side under one mosquito net. The children share a tattered old blanket while Elifazi and his wife share a thin blanket that has seen better days.

Let’s make it a Merry Christmas with gifts of Warm Blankets for ROTOM Seniors!
