rotom-chmapions-project

Each year, ROTOM Champions meet for an orientation with guest speakers and representatives from ROTOM and our partner Beautiful World Canada (BWC), to highlight the expectations of the program. We also have past graduates share their stories as a way of encouraging the new and continuing students.

Payment of School Fees & Accommodation

Additional program incentives include the payment of school fees, accommodation and a stipend for students during the school term. This helps to ensure that students do not experience any delays in their academic progress and are able to afford daily necessities. Our primary focus has been to find safe and hygienic hostels for the students while they are attending school.

Internships & Workshops

Our Champions also benefit from internship and employment preparation opportunities that help them to build connections and the skills needed to succeed in the workplace. From this initiative, many of our Champions have been able to secure part time jobs and volunteer positions allowing them to contribute to their CVs.

Our workshops train students on the importance of workplace etiquette such as timekeeping, dress code, report writing and other soft skills.

Some of our students have started their own projects such as agricultural businesses, crafts making and other hands-on skills. This allow students to be independent and practice financial stability.

Mentorship Opportunities

Mentorship plays a crucial role in the academic and personal development of our Champions. This activity allows students to gain guidance, support and inspiration as they navigate through their educational and career paths. Our mentors share the same dedication towards education and ensure that the wellbeing of our students is maintained.

To support students seeking guidance within their academics we try to match the Champions with mentors related to their field of study and values of life.

Emotional Support

To help foster spiritual and emotional care, the champions participate in weekly devotionals. We also conduct counselling of our students to ensure that they continue to feel supported throughout their academic career. The ROTOM Champions have formed a tight-knit community as they frequently visit each other and partner in leadership initiatives.

Champion’s Retreat

To help develop skills related to leadership and cooperation, the ROTOM Champions participate in annual retreats. Some of the activities include sack racing, ziplining and rope courses. The Champions enjoy this time together as they gain a better understanding of themselves and the wisdom to overcome some of their challenges. As a family, we became stronger, better connected and create memories to last a lifetime.
