Kenneth Mugayehwenkyi Recognized by UN (WHO) for Healthy Ageing 50

UN Recognition

Recently, the UN declared years 2021 through 2030 the Decade of Healthy Aging, and one of the highlights was to recognize 50 people who are outstanding leaders in the movement. We are excited to announce that our Founder/Executive Director of Global ROTOM ministry, Kenneth Edmund Mugayehwenkyi, was listed as one of those 50 individuals. Kenneth has been working to improve the lives of older people in the Eastern Africa region since 2003, after leaving his role as a social worker in the U.S. to return to Uganda to spearhead ROTOM. As an organization we serve 2,000+ older people and 500 of their dependent grandchildren, focusing on their physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs.

The UN’s collaborative effort of Healthy Ageing 50 brings together governments, civil society, international agencies, professionals, academia, the media and private sector to improve the lives of older people, their families and the communities in which they live.

We are joining in to celebrate this big accomplishment as we move into the 20th year of ministry in 2023! We ask you to please celebrate with us – ROTOM USA, ROTOM Canada, ROTOM UK, ROTOM Ethiopia, and finally our home office in Uganda – in this great accomplishment of recognition as an international champion who is transforming the world to be a better place to grow older! In addition, we personally say congratulations to Kenneth for this amazing honor and offer him support and encouragement as he leads us into the next decade of ROTOM’s ministry.
