We are very excited to have this opportunity to celebrate with Kenneth and supporters from across the globe!
While I was not serving as pastor at Galloway 20 years ago, I have learned the story of ROTOM’s beginnings from others. Over the past 10 years, I have been blessed to get to know Kenneth and Miriam personally and gain a friendship with them. My relationship with them has fostered respect, admiration, and love for them and the people ministered to through ROTOM.
From the first moment I heard the story of the way God called Kenneth and Miriam, I have been committed to maintaining our relationship as a supporting church with ROTOM. It is a unique story that shaped Kenneth and Miriam’s lives and the growth of this ministry. It is also a unique opportunity for a church to be part of the launch of such a venture and to experience the joy of seeing it grow and bear fruit.
Maintaining that connection means that we have to tell and retell the story of ROTOM. In this we celebrate the beginning, rejoice over the ever-expanding impact, and believe God for a future blessing. My goal as pastor is to get our whole congregation to know that we support ministries outside of the USA…that we support a ministry in Africa…in Uganda and Ethiopia…that it is led by a man named Kenneth, that it ministers to older adults…and children…I want them to grow into a people who remember the stories, the names, and love those we are partnering with in God’s work!
To this end we have established an annual Christmas in July for ROTOM seniors. We want to highlight our partnership with ROTOM year-round. We also want our gifts for Christmas to be available to the ministry early enough to be used for the gifts that will be provided to older adults in Uganda and Ethiopia. Christmas in July is perfect for both purposes. As we invite people to give $30, we get to tell the story and give members a direct way to bless people. We also distribute cards with pictures that highlight Kenneth and the ministry of ROTOM of 20 years. These images speak volumes and give a reminder to pray and support the ministry! This fall will be another opportunity to build up the partnership we have with Kenneth. It will also help us all to recognize the many contributors and the worldwide support that makes this possible. We look forward to hosting this U.S. celebration in October and hope for a gathering of partners that will fan the flames that have been in Kenneth, Miriam, and so many other blessed servants of Christ.
In Christ’s Service,
Pastor Roy Gearhart
