Clean Hygiene is Part of Joyce’s Daily Struggle

Joyce M and grandchild water tank

Access to clean water has made a life-impacting change in the lives of many of our ROTOM seniors. Did you know that 2-billion people globally don’t have access to clean water? Before receiving a new water tank from her sponsor, Joyce had no other choice but to collect water from a distant swamp. The water there is contaminated and is the only place where the people in her community could take animals and livestock for their water needs.

Joyce narrates that her struggle to collect water was always a nightmare because she was not only unhappy with the contaminated water, and that she was also scared of the unsafe route she walked to the swam filled with thick bushes, reeds and dangerous snakes. Then there was the fear of her young grandchildren falling into the swamp and drowning too.

“As for my surrounding, I struggled since I had no water. Many would not visit me yet they would visit other people in the neighborhood. And, I felt like I did not belong,” she says.

“However, I am now so grateful to ROTOM for blessing me with a water tank. Today, I am able to take all the showers I want in a day, and I feel so clean and refreshed. My hygiene and sanitation has greatly improved. My friends now come around to say hello and applaud me for the tremendous improvement in my hygiene. I know all this has been possible because of the water tank that I received from ROTOM,” concludes a thankful Joyce. We are so very thankful for those who show God’s love for our precious seniors as they face challenges of not having adequate resources for nearby access to clean water. Our campaign is coming to a close at the end of July.

Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life. – John 4:14 NIV
